URGENT: Critical Anti-poverty Bill Up for Vote!

Write your Assemblymember TODAY - Vote yes on AB 2589

URGENT - May 24, 2022    The CalEITC Coalition, which includes FCLCA, is asking you to write your Assembly Member today (vote could be as soon as tomorrow) to ask them to vote YES on AB 2589.

AB 2589 addresses poverty in our state by delivering meaningful economic support to working individuals and families who need it most. It will expand the Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC) from the current $1,000 per household with a child under six to $2,000 per child for low-income households. It would also raise the minimum California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC)  from $1 to $255 for all eligible recipients, including single adults.

Earned income tax credits and child tax credits are proven poverty busters, because they put resources directly in the hands of families and individuals. The expanded federal versions of these credits brought about an immediate drop in poverty and food insecurity. Since those expansions expired, California's lowest income families are falling back into poverty.

But we in California can help stop that slide with AB 2589 - You can help by writing to your Assembly Member right now.
